Chicago Bears pass rusher Robert Quinn didn’t attend Tuesday’s first day of a three-day mandatory minicamp.

The 32-year-old defensive end has been absent from voluntary organized team activities this offseason and plans to continue training on his own for the 2022 season.

Bears coach Matt Eberflus noted Quinn’s absence and said general manager Ryan Poles will handle the situation.

“We hoped he would be here,” Eberflus said of Quinn. “He’s not. Ryan and his staff are gonna work through that.”

Quinn broke Chicago’s single-season record with 18.5 sacks and earned his third Pro Bowl selection last season. Team legend Richard Dent (17.5 in 1984) held the old mark.

He has 101 sacks to go with 173 quarterback hits, 359 tackles and 32 forced fumbles in 156 games (135 starts) for the St. Louis/Los Angeles Rams (2011-17), Miami Dolphins (2018), Dallas Cowboys (2019) and Bears.

CBS Sports reported last month that Quinn wanted out of Chicago, but the Bears have said they are not interested in trading the 11-year veteran.

Quinn signed a five-year, $70 million deal with the Bears in March 2020. He has three seasons left on the contract and is due a base salary of $12.8 million in 2022.
