The Los Angeles Rams remain hopeful they can bring wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. back for the 2022 season.

Team chief operating officer Kevin Demoff told The Athletic in an interview Monday that he doesn’t have a timeline to re-sign Beckham, who is recovering from a torn left ACL he sustained in the Rams’ Super Bowl LVI victory in February. He said both sides have had an “open dialogue.”

“If we didn’t have a salary cap, we could’ve signed Odell months ago and would’ve loved to,” Demoff said. “Is it a multi-year deal, is it a one-year deal? All kinds of variables that come into Odell.

“The one variable that hasn’t changed is how much we love him and want him to be here. I think he’s expressed, over social, his desire to be here. Am I optimistic we can get a deal done over time? Yes.”

Los Angeles signed Beckham last November after his release from the Cleveland Browns. In eight regular-season games with the Rams, he caught 27 receptions for 305 yards and five touchdowns — after not scoring a single touchdown for the Browns in six games.

Beckham, 29, added two touchdowns in the playoffs, including the first score of Super Bowl LVI, before going down with the knee injury.

In eight NFL seasons with the New York Giants, Cleveland and Los Angeles, the three-time Pro Bowl selection has totaled 531 catches for 7,367 yards and 56 touchdowns.

At the position, the Rams have Cooper Kupp, who won NFL Offensive Player of the Year after earning the receiving “Triple Crown” in 2021. The team signed him to a three-year, $80.1 million contract extension last week, and they added Allen Robinson in free agency on a three-year, $46.5 million deal. They also traded receiver Robert Woods to the Tennessee Titans to help with their cap situation.
