Harvey Weinstein, was convicted of rape. He is now a former disgraced movie mogul who was sent to prison for violating women whom most were actresses. Harvey Weinstein is now 70 years old and could face life in prison. There are five new women who will testify at his trial who claimed to be victims of his sexual assault conduct.
Weinsten is currently incarcerated in Los Angeles as he awaits trial. Weinstein will be denying all of the allegations the additional witnesses. Their testimonies will be contested says his attorneys and Weinstein.
Lisa Lynch, the Superior Court judge in Los Angeles said that she is limiting the amount of witnesses before the 2000 claims against Harvey Weinstein so the jury does not get confused. One witness will testify because as she was involved in the Harry Weinstein claim before 2000 and after 2000.
Celebrity actress Daryl Hannah will not be called. Hannah claimed that Harry Weinstein did try to get into her hotel room during the Cannes Film Festival. However, she did not claim that Weinstein sexually assaulted her, Therefore she is not as credible as a witness.
The trial will begin in New York in September. Weinstein has already been sentenced to 23 years in prison he is appealing his conviction with his attorney’s. Weinstein had a vast previous history of sexual misconduct and harassment. Allegations brought out by many women started the # metomovement. Since then many women have come forward due to the publicity up the allegations against Weinstein and many predatory men in high profile entertainment and media industry have been charged with sexual assault and rape. One of them being accused was Bill Cosby.
Weinstein’s attorney, Mark Workman said, “Daryl is just window dressing so that the jury will hate Mr. Weinstein a little bit more,” referring to the possible testimony of Hannah. “It’s inflammatory.”
