The Montreal Canadiens on Friday named Vincent Lecavalier as special adviser to hockey operations and Nick Bobrov as co-director of amateur scouting.
Lecavalier, a veteran of 17 NHL seasons, will operate as something of a bridge between the reshaped front office (general manager Kent Hughes and president of hockey operations Jeff Gorton) and the bench, with new head coach Martin St. Louis.
Hughes was hired to his post in January, while St. Louis became head coach earlier this month. Gorton moved into his position with the Canadiens in November.
“What I love about this is I can help in every department; it can be the scouting department, it can be the player personnel department, it can be with the actual players, the coaches, and Kent and Jeff,” said Lecavalier, 41, who used Hughes as his agent when he was a player.
Bobrov was the former European scouting director with the New York Rangers from 2015-21 when Gorton was the general manager there.
