The Miami Dolphins are interviewing Los Angeles Chargers offensive line coach/run game coordinator Frank Smith for their offensive coordinator position, NFL Media reported Saturday.

Smith just completed his first season with the Chargers after working as a tight ends coach with the Oakland/Las Vegas Raiders (2018-20) and Chicago Bears (2015-17). He worked as an assistant offensive line coach with the New Orleans Saints from 2010-14.

With Smith on the staff, the Chargers finished fourth in the NFL in total offense and fifth in scoring offense during the 2021 season.

New Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel said during his introductory press conference this week that he plans to call the offensive plays.
