The Indianapolis Colts announced the hiring Monday of Gus Bradley as their new defensive coordinator.

Bradley, who held that role with Las Vegas last season, replaces Matt Eberflus, named the new head coach in Chicago two weeks ago.

Bradley was on the job in Las Vegas for just one year, but he helped the Raiders improve their total defense from 25th in 2020 (389.1 yards per game) to 14th in 2021 (337.2).

The Colts ranked 16th in that category this season at 343.2 yards per game.

Bradley, 55, was 14-48 as head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars from 2013-16. He also served as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ linebackers coach from 2006-08 and as defensive coordinator of the Seattle Seahawks from 2009-12 and the Los Angeles Chargers from 2017-20.
