New York Red Bulls defender Andres Reyes underwent surgery to repair a Jones fracture sustained during an offseason workout at home.

The club termed the foot surgery as “successful” and said it was performed Tuesday afternoon at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York.

Reyes, 22, is expected to be sidelined four to six months.

In 2021, he appeared in 19 matches (17 starts) for the Red Bulls and posted two goals and an assist in 1,417 minutes. The Colombia native began his MLS career in 2020 with Inter Miami CF, starting all 13 matches in which he appeared.

The Red Bulls are scheduled to open their season on Feb. 26 against the Earthquakes in San Jose.
