Utah Jazz center Rudy Gobert has been added to the league’s health and safety protocol.

Gobert is one of five players ruled out by the Jazz for Friday night’s game at Toronto, including All-Star guard Donovan Mitchell (back strain).

Gobert joins Joe Ingles in the COVID protocol. Bojan Bogdanovic (finger strain) and Mike Conley (knee) have also been ruled out for Friday’s game.

Gobert was ground zero for the first COVID-19 outbreak in March 2020. It was his diagnosis in Oklahoma City – with Mitchell soon to follow – that caused the NBA to suspend the season for four months. Gobert was criticized for his flippant and careless behavior in the locker room and the situation led to heavy tension with Mitchell that took months to resolve.

Gobert is averaging 15.5 points and 15.1 rebounds per game in 37 starts. He was held out of Wednesday night’s game in Denver.

Bogdanovic scored 36 points to help the Jazz defeat the Nuggets.

The Jazz listed Royce O’Neale (patellar tendonitis), Hassan Whiteside (concussion), Jordan Clarkson (back) and Rudy Gay (heel) as questionable against the Raptors.
