Texas A&M looks to continue building momentum for Southeastern Conference play and to stay unbeaten at home when it hosts Dallas Christian on Monday in College Station, Texas.
The Aggies (9-2) have won two straight and five of their last six, with their most recent contest an 80-61 victory over Northwestern State on Tuesday. Manny Obaseki had 19 points and nine rebounds, both season highs, with Hassan Diarra hitting for 12 points and Tyrece Radford adding 10.
The Aggies led wire-to-wire for the second time this season and outscored the Demons 44-26 in the paint. Texas A&M is 6-0 at home this season.
“Manny was as good as he has been, and I think Boots (Radford) has hit his stride,” Texas A&M coach Buzz Williams said after the win. “This is always a hard game to play because everyone is ready to see Santa Claus, but there were some good things. We just were not as consistent as a coach would want.”
Dallas Christian was added to the schedule just over a week ago after the Aggies’ game against Tulane was canceled due to COVID-19 issues in the Green Wave’s program.
The Crusaders (1-2) head to the Brazos Valley after a 94-67 win over Ozark Christian College on Dec. 10.
Dallas Christian’s schedule has also featured 12 exhibition games, and the Crusaders — who play in the National Christian College Athletic Association — have lost all but one of those contests.
This game will be an exhibition for Dallas Christian, while countable for the Aggies.
“It’s a bigger stage,” Crusaders guard Jalen Perez said when asked about how it feels playing against the larger programs. “We play the same basketball — it is just a bigger stage. But it’s also a dream come true.”
