NCAAB: COVID causes programs to pause, pocks schedule

Wednesday’s scheduled game between Georgetown and No. 22 Providence has been canceled because of COVID-19 issues within the Hoyas program, Stadium reported.

Under Big East rules for the season, the game will go down as a forfeit for Georgetown and a win for Providence.

COVID-19 protocols also forced the cancellation of Wednesday’s scheduled games between Boston College and Wake Forest, plus Georgia Southern and Fordham. Wake Forest was credited with a win in the ACC standings while Boston College forfeits.

Tuesday night’s game between Nevada and Grand Canyon was canceled due to Grand Canyon’s COVID-19 issues. It also will not be rescheduled.

Also Tuesday night, Michigan’s game against visiting Purdue Fort-Wayne was canceled due to COVID protocols within the Mastodons’ program. It will not be rescheduled.

Indiana State said it was shopping for a new opponent after Northern Illinois (COVID-19) canceled for Wednesday.

A power outage at Desert Financial Arena forced Arizona State to cancel its game Tuesday against Florida A&M.
