As part of their continuing effort to “reshape” the Valorant roster, 100 Thieves Esports released in-game leader Nick “nitr0” Cannella via transfer.

“As we continue to reshape our VALORANT roster for the future, we are announcing the transfer of @nitr0 from 100 Thieves,” the organization wrote Tuesday on Twitter. “Nick helped to create a winning culture and lifted us to championship heights. We’d like to wish him the best in his next chapter.”

Rumors that the 26-year-old might be considering going back to Counter-Strike: Global Offensive competition arose last month, suggesting that he could potentially return to Team Liquid, according to a report by Upcomer. nitr0 played for Team Liquid shortly after turning professional in 2015 and remained active through Aug. 1, 2020.

He acknowledged the move on Twitter, writing, “Thank you so much 100T for the opportunity to compete under such a great organization. More on my future soon!”

Earlier in December, 100 Thieves released Josh “Steel” Nissan, the previous in-game leader before nitr0. His release came a little more than a month after Steel was benched and nitr0 was promoted. Steel has since announced he’ll play for T1 in 2022.

nitr0’s departure leaves 100 Thieves roster with Spencer “Hiko” Martin, Peter “Asuna” Mazuryk and Ethan “Ethan” Arnold. Mexico’s Johann “seven” Hernandez is currently listed as a substitute.
