Boston Bruins forward Jake DeBrusk has requested that the team trade him, multiple reports said Tuesday.

DeBrusk has spent his entire five-season NHL career with the Bruins after the franchise took him in the first round of the 2015 NHL Draft. But the winger has seen his role and ice time decrease.

DeBrusk’s agent told ESPN that he made the request on his client’s behalf this past weekend, contending that DeBrusk needed a fresh start elsewhere. The Athletic was the first to report the news.

The 25-year-old has six points (three goals, three assists) in 17 games this season. He produced 43 points (16 goals, 27 assists) as a rookie in 2017-18 and scored 27 goals the following season, but his production and ice time have gone down each season since.

DeBrusk is averaging only 14:24 of ice time per game this season and does not play a top-six forward role for a team that features Brad Marchand, David Pastrnak and Taylor Hall at the wings.
