Freshman phenom Aaliyah Chavez scored a season-high 33 points as No. 9 Oklahoma outlasted North Carolina State to win 103-98 in overtime on Wednesday night in Norman, Okla.
The Sooners (8-1) were also boosted by Raegan Beers, who collected her sixth consecutive double-double with 21 points and 12 rebounds. Beers scored seven of Oklahoma’s 14 points in overtime. Sahara Williams also scored 21 points, while Zya Vann added 12 points and four steals.
Zamareya Jones scored a career-best 26 points for NC State (5-4), while Zoe Brooks had 25 points. Khamil Pierre piled up 19 points and 20 rebounds, and Tilda Trygger had 18 points and 12 boards.
The Wolfpack had a chance to win with under 10 seconds to play in regulation, but Williams blocked one would-be game-winning shot attempt and Beers stole away NC State’s final possession. Oklahoma turned 13 Wolfpack turnovers into 17 points.
No. 6 Michigan 82, Central Michigan 40
Olivia Olson piled up 21 points and 11 rebounds as the Wolverines pulled away from the Chippewas in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
Mila Holloway added 16 points and four assists for Michigan (7-1), while Syla Swords scored 11 points and Ashley Sofilkanich added 10. As a team, the Wolverines connected on 19 of 24 free throws. Michigan never trailed after jumping out to a 25-3 lead to open the game.
Ayanna-Sarai Darrington led Central Michigan (5-3) with 11 points. The Chippewas were outrebounded by 25 and turned the ball over 22 times, which Michigan flipped into 29 points.
No. 7 Maryland 92, Mount St. Mary’s 44
Oluchi Okananwa was one of five Terrapins to score in double figures as they sprinted away from the visiting Mountaineers in College Park, Maryland.
Okananwa had 17 points on 7-of-9 shooting, while Breanna Williams chipped in 12 points, seven rebounds and three assists in an off-the-bench effort for undefeated Maryland (10-0).
Gabrielle Kennerly scored 13 points for Mount St. Mary’s (2-5), while Giana Hoddinott added 10 points. The Mountaineers had a brief 5-4 lead in the game’s opening moments, but Maryland never trailed again after Mir McLean scored five straight points. The Terps outscored the Mountaineers in the paint 50-20.
No. 8 TCU 84, Incarnate Word 56
Donovyn Hunter scored 21 points to push the Horned Frogs past the Cardinals in Fort Worth, Texas.
Marta Suarez added 16 points and 12 rebounds for TCU (9-0), while Olivia Miles amassed 15 points and six assists. The Horned Frogs had 24 assists on 33 made baskets and shot 50% from the floor.
Jorja Elliott had 17 points for Incarnate Word (1-5), and Morgan Borgstadt scored 16. TCU never trailed and outscored the Cardinals 48-24 in the paint.
No. 14 Baylor 112, Southeastern Louisiana 47
Darianna Littlepage-Buggs and Taliah Scott both secured double-doubles as the Bears ran away from the Lions in Waco, Texas.
Scott had 23 points and a career-best 10 assists for Baylor (8-1), while Littlepage-Buggs tallied 10 points and 14 rebounds. Bella Fontleroy added 20 points for the Bears, Marcayla Johnson scored 14, and Yuting Deng had 11. Baylor shot a season-best 64% from the floor and 50% from behind the arc.
Aliyah Collins paced Southeastern Louisiana (2-4) with 15 points, three assists and three steals. Baylor never trailed and dished out 36 assists on 47 made baskets.
No. 15 Vanderbilt 81, Virginia 68
Mikayla Blakes scored 28 points to power the Commodores to a victory over the Cavaliers in an ACC/SEC Challenge game at Nashville.
Virginia (6-3) led by a point after the first quarter, but Vanderbilt (9-0) outscored the visitors 45-22 over the next two frames to pull away. The Commodores went on to lead by as much as 28 points.
Blakes hit 12 of 13 free throws and tallied seven rebounds and seven assists. Ndjakalenga Mwenentanda added 16 points and Sacha Washington chipped in 13 for Vanderbilt. Kymora Johnson steered the Cavaliers with 22 points and seven assists.
No. 17 Kentucky 64, Miami 48
Tonie Morgan scored 20 points to help the Wildcats beat the Hurricanes in Coral Gables, Florida.
Kentucky (9-1) also got a boost from Clara Strack, who stuffed the stat sheet with 13 points, nine rebounds, four assists and four steals. Teonni Key added 11 points for the Wildcats in their second win this season over an ACC opponent.
Ra Shaya Kyle paced Miami (5-3) with a double-double of 11 points and 10 rebounds, while Gal Raviv scored 12 points. The Wildcats capitalized on Miami’s miscues, turning 15 turnovers by the Hurricanes into 25 points. Kentucky also held Miami to a season-worst shooting percentage from 3-point land, allowing the Hurricanes to make just 2-of-18 shots from behind the arc (11.1%).
No. 19 Tennessee 65, Stanford 62
Talaysia Cooper scored 19 points and the game-winning basket with six seconds left to lead the visiting Lady Vols over the Cardinal.
Cooper also had six assists and 10 steals in the victory for Tennessee (6-2). Mia Pauldo added 14 points and Zee Spearman scored 13. The Lady Vols scored 25 points off 30 forced turnovers.
Nunu Agara and Hailee Swain each scored 14 points apiece for Stanford (8-2). Agara also had 11 rebounds. The Cardinal had a chance to tie the game late in regulation, but Agara’s layup attempt missed the mark. Tennessee’s Nya Robertson made a free throw with 0.5 seconds remaining before Stanford’s Chloe Clardy missed a 3-point attempt at the buzzer.
No. 24 Oklahoma State 73, North Texas 55
Haleigh Timmer scored 23 points to help the Cowgirls get a road win over the Mean Green in Denton, Texas.
Timmer made 9 of 12 shots from the floor and also dished out three assists for Oklahoma State (9-1). Jadyn Wooten added 15 points, Achol Akot collected a double-double of 10 points and 14 boards, and Amari Whiting had 10 points and nine rebounds for the Cowgirls.
North Texas (5-3) was led by Andi Schissler’s 12 points. Oklahoma State never trailed, held the Mean Green to just 1-of-15 shooting from 3-point land, and won the rebounding battle by 13.
