San Diego FC exercised its trade option Wednesday to acquire defender Oscar Verhoeven permanently from the San Jose Earthquakes.

The 19-year-old California native was loaned to San Diego in April for the rest of the 2025 season in exchange for $100,000 in general allocation money.

By exercising its permanent trade option, SDFC sends an additional $350,000 in 2026 GAM to the Earthquakes. San Jose also retains future sell-on and trade percentages.

Verhoeven played in 14 MLS matches (11 starts) for San Diego in 2025. He made seven appearances (five starts) for the Quakes from 2024-25.
