Leon Draisaitl scored 19 seconds into overtime and also had two assists to lead the Edmonton Oilers to a 4-3 victory over the Carolina Hurricanes on Saturday night in Raleigh, N.C.

Draisaitl won the opening faceoff to begin the extra period and Connor McDavid, who finished with two goals and an assist, then rushed down the center of the ice before dropping off a pass to Draisaitl, who fired a wrist shot from the high slot through the pads of Carolina goaltender Frederik Andersen for his 20th career overtime goal.

Jack Roslovic had a goal and an assist and Stuart Skinner made 33 saves for Edmonton, which won for the third time in its last four games — all victories in overtime. Zach Hyman made his season debut following offseason wrist surgery and had an assist and a game-high 11 hits in 23:10 of ice time.

Eric Robinson, Nikolaj Ehlers and Jordan Stahl scored for Carolina while Andersen stopped 19 of 23 shots.

Edmonton jumped out to a 1-0 lead at the 3:47 mark of the first when Roslovic intercepted a clearing pass from Andersen in the high slot, then skated in and roofed a wrist shot for his third goal in the last four games.

The Oilers extended the lead to 2-0 on a power-play goal by McDavid. Roslovic’s shot from the right circle caromed off the back boards to McDavid above the left goal line where he fired in a sharp-angled shot.

Carolina cut the lead to 2-1 near the end of the period when Robinson one-timed a long crossing pass from Shayne Gostisbehere from the middle of the right circle under Skinner’s glove.

The Hurricanes tied it early in the second period when a wide-open Ehlers, at the bottom of the left circle, one-timed Jackson Blake’s pass from behind the net to extend his point streak to seven games.

McDavid put the Oilers back in front at the 5:46 mark of the third when he snapped in a Draisaitl pass into the left side of the net Carolina tied it just 59 seconds later when Staal tapped in a loose puck inside the right post.
