DOTA: Xtreme Gaming, Team Spirt rally for wins as PGL Wallachia Season 6 opens

Eight teams opened competition with victories on Saturday in the group stage of PGL Wallachia Season 6 in Bucharest, Romania.

Recording 2-0 sweeps were OG over PARIVISION, MOUZ over Roar Gaming, Team Liquid over Gamer Legion, BetBoom Team against Team Tidebound, Tundra Esports over Nigma Galaxy and Natus Vincere against HEROIC.

Xtreme Gaming downed Team Cobra 2-1, dropping the first map in 28 minutes on green before winning in 43 minutes and 51 minutes on green.

Team Spirit, likewise, had to rally for a 2-1 win over Yakult Brothers, which took the opener in 60 minutes on green before Team Spirt came back with wins in 20 minutes and 28 minutes, both on red.

The group stage features a modified Swiss style of 16 teams competing in five rounds from Saturday through Wednesday. All matches are best-of-three. The top eight teams advance to the playoffs on Nov. 20-23 and the remaining eight are eliminated.

The playoffs use a double-elimination bracket with all matches best-of-three except for the grand final, which is best-of-five. The tournament has a $1 million prize pool, with $300,000 first prize.
