The Royals and catcher Salvador Perez agreed on a new two-year contract Tuesday to keep the franchise icon in Kansas City through the 2027 season.

Contract terms were not disclosed, but several outlets reported it is worth $25 million.

Perez, 35, has played all 14 seasons of his major league career in Kansas City and is a nine-time All-Star, five-time Gold Glove winner and five-time Silver Slugger.

He helped the Royals win the World Series in 2015 and earned World Series MVP honors. Perez was named team captain in 2023.

In 155 games this past season, Perez batted .236, his lowest mark since 2018, with 30 home runs and 100 RBIs. Across 1,707 career games, Perez has batted .264 and launched 303 homers with 1,016 RBIs.
