Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray did not practice on Wednesday due to a foot injury.

Head coach Jonathan Gannon said Murray is taking it “day by day” heading into Sunday’s game at Indianapolis.

Murray briefly exited last weekend’s loss to the Tennessee Titans, missing three snaps before returning to the field.

Murray, 28, has not missed a game since sitting out Weeks 1-9 in 2023 while recovering from surgery for a torn ACL.

Veteran Jacoby Brissett relieved Murray against the Titans and would be the next man up against the Colts (4-1).

Brissett, 32, has started 53 regular-season games in his NFL career and has a 19-34 record.

“He’s a true pro, and I know that term gets thrown around, but when you are in his seat, the quarterback position is the hardest position in sports and to know that you are one play away from your role changing, you really have to be on the details,” Gannon said. “He has a smile on his face. He loves to practice. He loves to prepare. He loves to play.

“He’s a great football player, a great teammate, a really good leader and if he’s gotta play, he’s gotta play.”

Brissett made 30 starts for the Colts from 2017-20.

The Cardinals (2-3) have lost three straight games, all of them on game-ending field goals.

Murray has completed 68.3 percent of his passes for 962 yards with six touchdowns and three interceptions in five starts this season. He has rushed for 173 yards and one score.

The Cardinals also placed tight end Tip Reiman (ankle) on injured reserve and he will miss the rest of the season. Arizona signed tight end Nick Muse to the practice squad, but hasn’t yet added him to the active roster.
