Los Angeles Dodgers third baseman Justin Turner exited Game 4 of the National League Championship Series in the seventh inning Wednesday with a left hamstring strain that is expected to sideline him for the remainder of the postseason.
Los Angeles manager Dave Roberts told media members after the Dodgers’ 9-2 loss that Turner sustained a grade 2 hamstring strain.
Turner, who has 13 career playoff home runs, grounded into a double play and appeared to be in pain while running halfway up the first base line. He was replaced at third base in the top of the eighth inning by Chris Taylor, who moved in from center field. Steven Souza entered the game in the outfield.
Turner, who turns 37 next month, also was out of the starting lineup in Game 2 because of neck stiffness. He is 4-for-34 (.118) in 10 games this postseason with just one extra-base hit, a home run in the wild-card victory over the St. Louis Cardinals.
With the Game 4 victory, the Braves hold a 3-1 series lead with Game 5 scheduled for Thursday in Los Angeles.
