The Minnesota Twins put second baseman Luke Keaschall on the 10-day injured list on Thursday, ending the rookie’s season.

Keaschall sustained a left thumb sprain while sliding into second base in Tuesday’s 4-1 win against the host Texas Rangers.

Keaschall, 23, made his major league debut on April 18 and batted .302 with an .827 OPS in 49 games, finishing with four homers, 14 doubles, 14 stolen bases and 28 RBIs.

Minnesota recalled outfielder DaShawn Keirsey Jr. to replace Keaschall on the 28-man roster. In four previous stints with the Twins this season, Keirsey batted .108 with two homers, six RBIs and nine steals in 71 games.
