The Milwaukee Brewers placed outfielder Jackson Chourio on the 10-day injured list Friday with a strained right hamstring.

The move is retroactive to Wednesday, the day after Chourio sustained the injury while legging out a triple in a 9-3 loss to the visiting Chicago Cubs.

“With a hamstring (injury), we’re going to be cautious there, so it’s probably going to be a little bit longer than we had initially anticipated,” general manager Matt Arnold said. “We’re not expecting anything excessive, but we just want to be super patient with a player the caliber of Jackson Chourio.”

The Brewers added newly acquired outfielder Brandon Lockridge to the active roster in a corresponding move.

Chourio, 21, is batting .276 with 17 home runs, 29 doubles, 67 RBIs and 18 stolen bases in 106 games. He leads the National League with 445 at-bats and has made starts at all three outfield positions.

Chourio finished third in the NL Rookie of the Year voting in 2024 after batting .275 with 21 homers, 79 RBIs and 22 steals in 148 games.

Milwaukee acquired Lockridge, 28, from San Diego at Thursday’s trade deadline. He batted .216 with five RBIs and eight steals in 47 games this season with the Padres.
