The Edmonton Oilers signed Colton Sceviour and put fellow forward Josh Archibald on long-term injured reserve Wednesday.

The team also placed forward Zack Kassian on injured reserve and recalled forward Kyle Turris from Bakersfield of the American Hockey League in a series of moves ahead of Wednesday night’s season opener against the visiting Vancouver Canucks.

Sceviour made the roster after signing a professional tryout deal in September. He tallied three assists in seven preseason games.

He signed a one-year, two-way contract valued at $750,000.

Sceviour, 32, has 151 points (64 goals, 87 assists) in 500 games over 10 seasons with the Dallas Stars (2011-16), Florida Panthers (2016-20) and Pittsburgh Penguins (2020-21).

Archibald, 29, is dealing with myocarditis after a bout with COVID-19. He has collected 70 points (39 goals, 31 assists) in 235 games with the Penguins (2016-17), Arizona Coyotes (2017-19) and Oilers.

Kassian, 30, has been in the NHL’s concussion protocol since hitting his head on the ice during a fight with Canucks forward Zack MacEwen in a preseason game last Thursday.

Kassian enters his 11th season with 182 points (84 goals, 98 assists) in 552 games with the Buffalo Sabres (2011-12), Canucks (2012-15) and Oilers.
