Former Overwatch League MVP Sung-hyeon “JJoNak” Bang has parted ways with the New York Excelsior.

The 21-year-old South Korean player joined NYXL in October 2017 and started the past four seasons at flex support, winning OWL MVP honors in 2018.

“There are a lot of words synonymous with @JJoNakLove. And yet, there aren’t enough words to express how honored we are to have shared time with him,” the team posted Friday on Twitter. “To the Octopus King: Thank you.”

NYXL overhauled their roster ahead of the 2021 season, keeping only JJoNak and ultimately finishing in sixth place in the East Division with a 7-9 record.

JJoNak has not publicly announced his future plans. The 2022 OWL season begins in April.
