Free-agent season is on in the Overwatch League as the Hangzhou Spark announced that they would be parting ways with five members of the organization.

Leaving the Spark are assistant coach Congshan “U4” Chen, DPS Min-soo “SeoMinSoo” Seo, flex support Tong “ColdEst” Xiaodong, and main supports Liu “M1ka” Jiming and Park “iDK” Ho Jin. Sunday’s announcement now numbers the Spark’s 2021 releases at seven out of the original 12 players the team committed to for the 2021 season.

The Spark announced the moves on Twitter, writing, “As we are bidding farewell to IDK, M1KA, COLDEST and SEOMINSOO, we’d like to say thank you to them for all their hard works. Thank you for always keep your head up and never stop fighting.”

iDK had been a mainstay of the Hangzhou roster since the inaugural season of the Spark in 2018, while U4 had been with the team for the past three years as an assistant coach and was one of the first extra additions in 2019 to the original coaching staff.

The remaining five players on the main roster include main tank Xu “Guxue” Qiulin, off-tank Se-won “BERNAR” Shin, two-way player Jia “LiGe” Chengjie, veteran flex player Minho “Architect” Park and hitscan DPS player Zheng “Shy” Yangjie.

This past season, the Spark failed to get past the first round of play-ins and finished 2021 with a 7-9 record, ranking fifth in the East Region.
