NHL: Lightning G Jonas Johansson inks 2-year extension

Tampa Bay Lightning goaltender Jonas Johansson signed a two-year contract extension worth $2.5 million, the team announced on Wednesday.

Johansson, 29, posted a 9-6-3 record with one shutout, a 3.13 goals-against average and an .895 save percentage in 19 games (18 starts) this season. He serves as the primary backup to former Vezina Trophy recipient Andrei Vasilevskiy.

Prior to the extension, Johansson was set to become an unrestricted free agent after completing his two-year, $1.55 million deal.

Johansson owns a 32-26-12 mark with four shutouts, a 3.29 GAA and an .890 save percentage in 80 career games (70 starts) with the Buffalo Sabres, Colorado Avalanche, Florida Panthers and Lightning. He was selected by the Sabres in the third round of the 2014 NHL Draft.
