No. 6 seed Holger Rune of Denmark rebounded to put away unseeded Argentine Sebastian Baez 4-6, 6-1, 6-2 on Wednesday to reach the quarterfinals at the Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell in Spain.

Rune, ranked No. 13 in the world, committed 15 unforced errors in the first set as he fell behind 2-0 and couldn’t recover. However, Rune broke Baez three times in each of the next two sets before sealing the win on his third match point.

Next up for Rune will be No. 2 seed Casper Ruud of Norway, who secured a 7-5, 7-5 victory over Serbian qualifier Hamad Medjedovic to continue his title defense. No. 3 seed Stefanos Tsitsipas of Greece and No. 7 seed Arthur Fils of France will meet in the quarterfinals after posting straight-sets victories.

BMW Open

Top-seeded Alexander Zverev breezed into the BMW quarterfinals, defeating fellow German Daniel Altmaier 6-3, 6-2, continuing his bid for a third title at the tournament in Munich, Germany.

Zverev, who has dropped just 10 games over his first two matches, converted four of six break points in the 80-minute match. He will next face Tallon Griekspoor of the Netherlands, who disposed of German wild card Yannick Hanfmann 7-6 (3), 6-3.

No. 2 seed Ben Shelton cruised in his match against Dutch opponent Botic van de Zandschulp, 7-6 (1), 6-3 after winning 83 percent of his first-serve points. Shelton, 22, is the youngest American to reach the Munich quarterfinals since 1990, when former World No. 1 Jim Courier did so at 19.

Next up for Shelton will be Italian Luciano Darderi, who pulled out a 2-6, 7-6 (4), 6-4 win over Serbian Miomir Kecmanovic.
