The Indianapolis Colts released kicker Matt Gay on Thursday.

The move clears $2.75 million in cap space for the Colts, who still have kicker Spencer Shrader on the 90-man roster.

Gay, 31, signed a four-year, $22.5 million contract with the Colts on March 17, 2023. He made 31 of 37 field-goal attempts and all 33 extra-point tries in 16 games last season with Indianapolis.

A Super Bowl champion with the Rams, Gay made 165 of 193 field-goal attempts and 206 of 214 PATs with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2019), Los Angeles (2020-22) and Colts. He was selected to the Pro Bowl in 2021.

Shrader spent time last season with the Colts, New York Jets and Kansas City Chiefs.
