Formula 1 and the Belgian Grand Prix are in agreement with a new deal that will keep the race on the schedule on a rotating basis through 2031.

The multi-year extension will see the F1 drivers flock to the legendary Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps in 2026, 2027, 2029 and 2031. F1 did not announce which races will be substituted for Belgium in its off years, but the rotational schedule frees up a spot on the calendar to introduce the sport in other markets.

The old course, built in 1921, recently underwent remodels aimed at increasing seating and improving the grounds for fans.

“The Belgian Grand Prix was one of the races that made up our maiden Championship in 1950, so as we kick off our 75th anniversary year it is fitting that we can share the news of this important extension,” said Stefano Domenicali, the president and CEO of Formula 1.

“Spa-Francorchamps is rightly lauded by drivers and fans alike as one of the finest racetracks in the world and it has played host to some incredible moments over its many seasons in Formula 1. In recent years it has undergone significant work to improve the facility and overall fan experience, and I would like to pay tribute to the promoter and the Government of Wallonia for their dedication and passionate support for Formula 1 in Belgium.”

At just over 7 kilometers in length — about 4.4 miles — the circuit is the longest on the Formula 1 calendar. Many of F1’s greats, including Niki Lauda and Michael Schumaker, have won there.

The 2025 Belgian Grand Prix is scheduled for July 27. Lewis Hamilton is the defending champion.
