New York Mets first baseman Pete Alonso is day-to-day after a CT scan on his right hand showed no broken bones.

Though he didn’t start Thursday due to the injury, Alonso delivered a pinch-hit double in the seventh inning and scored the tying run in New York’s 3-2 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks.

One day earlier, Alonso left a 10-3 home loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers in the first inning after he was hit by a pitch from left-hander James Paxton.

Alonso checked his swing on the pitch and initially appeared to foul off the ball. But he yelled in pain and fell to his knees before getting back up. He was visited by a trainer before exiting and being replaced by a pinch runner.

Postgame X-rays were negative. The CT scan results came back Thursday.

“I really feel I got lucky and dodged a bullet,” Alonso said before Thursday’s game. “I’m really happy that it’s going to be day-to-day. I feel very fortunate and I feel blessed for sure. … Throwing, fielding feels completely normal, which is awesome. … I pretty much have the blessing to do my normal routine.

“I want to take care of everything as much as possible. I don’t want to aggravate it too much. Everything I’ve done so far feels normal. I expect the same when I go about my cage work. Everything feels great.”

Alonso, 29, started each of the club’s 55 games prior to Thursday and has played in all but 24 games since he reached the majors in 2019.

He is batting .235 with 12 home runs and 26 RBIs this season. A three-time All-Star and the 2019 National League Rookie of the Year, he is a career .250 hitter with 204 homers and 524 RBIs.
