Golfers love to be associated with the term “birdie,” it’s only natural.

Unfortunately for Isi Gabsa, that wasn’t the case during one particular portion of her opening round of the U.S. Women’s Open on Thursday in Lancaster, Pa.

Gabsa’s tee shot on the par-3 No. 12 hole at Lancaster Country Club sailed toward the green before directly hitting a birdie, as in the creature.

A tournament staff member removed the creature from the green.

The situation evoked memories of Hall of Famer Randy Johnson’s infamous pitch that killed a low-flying bird during a spring training game in 2001.
