Kyle Stowers drove in four runs and Cole Irvin pitched five shutout innings as the Baltimore Orioles returned from a road trip to rip the Boston Red Sox 11-3 on Monday afternoon.

Adley Rutschman added two runs batted in and Cedric Mullins rapped a two-run triple as part of Baltimore’s big day of offense in the team’s fifth consecutive victory.

Stowers, who had a two-run double in the fourth and a two-run single in the seventh, joined teammate Ryan Mountcastle with three hits.

The Red Sox trailed 11-0 before Romy Gonzalez knocked in three runs with his first triple of the season in the eighth inning.

Irvin (5-2), who was back in a starting role where he has excelled, continued a trend of the Orioles’ strong pitching. He made his previous two outings in relief, but he settled right in while limiting the Red Sox to four hits and three walks while striking out six.

Red Sox starter Cooper Criswell (2-2) was gone after four innings, charged with seven runs (six earned) on six hits and a walk with two strikeouts.

Boston left 12 runners on base compared to Baltimore stranding five runners.

The Orioles opened the scoring on Jordan Westburg’s run-scoring double in the second inning and Rutschman’s sacrifice fly in the third.

Then they loaded the bases with no outs in the fourth and cashed in for five runs. Stowers had a two-run double, Mullins a two-run triple and Jorge Mateo had a sacrifice fly for a 7-0 advantage.

Rutschman hit a run-scoring double in the seventh as the Orioles scored four times to go up 11-0.

All of Boston’s runs came in the eighth inning off Thyago Vieira, who was making his Orioles debut after 16 appearances earlier this season for the Milwaukee Brewers. Vieira didn’t retire any of the five batters he faced.

Baltimore relievers Jacob Webb, Cionel Perez and Dillon Tate combined to cover four innings without being changed with a run.

Rob Refsnyder had two hits for the Red Sox, whose only extra-base hit came from Gonzalez.
