The Philadelphia Union have signed homegrown player David Vazquez through the 2027 MLS season.

The deal announced with the 18-year-old midfielder on Monday includes a team option for 2028.

“David is a highly intelligent player with positional versatility,” sporting director Ernst Tanner said. “During his time with the academy and Union II, he has shown how skillful he can be with the ball at his feet and his ability to be advantageous in the transition on attack. He is another great example of how our commitment to developing talent that begins at the academy level allows them to excel in the pathway to the pros in Philadelphia.”

Vazquez joined the Union Academy in 2022 and made his MLS NEXT Pro debut with Union II in 2023, contributing five goals and two assists in 22 matches (18 starts).

So far this season, the Los Angeles native has registered a team-high three assists in six matches (five starts) with Union II.
