Real Salt Lake acquired defender Philip Quinton from the Columbus Crew on Friday in exchange for up to $200,000 in general allocation money.

The Crew will receive a guaranteed $150,000 in general allocation money and a conditional $50,000 if certain performance incentives are met.

“I’m honored to join Real Salt Lake and be a part of the project in Utah,” Quinton said. “RSL is a great club with a big history and an excellent plan to keep building into the future.”

Quinton, 24, has been held off the scoresheet in his one match with Columbus this season. He has one goal in 13 career matches (11 starts) with the Crew.

“We thank Phil for his contributions and professionalism since joining our club in 2022,” Crew president and general manager Tim Bezbatchenko said. “Phil was instrumental in helping us secure the first-ever MLS NEXT Pro Cup, and based on his commitment and development, he earned a spot with our First Team to support our 2023 MLS Cup championship season. We appreciate Phil’s efforts and wish him the best with Real Salt Lake.”
