Magic Gaming and Lakers Gaming advanced to the upper-bracket final of the NBA 2K League’s 3v3 Slam Open on Friday.

The Magic downed NetsGC 3-1, while the Lakers swept Hawks Talon GC 3-0.

The Lakers and Magic will face off on Saturday. Meanwhile, in the lower bracket, Pistons GT and the Gen.G Tigers will square off to determine which teams faces the Magic-Lakers loser. The winner of the latter match will advance to face the Magic-Lakers winner. If the team emerging from the lower bracket prevails, another match will be held to determine the champion.

On Friday, the Magic opened two victories over the Nets by identical 22-16 scores. The Nets bounced back for a 22-15 win before Magic closed the series with a 21-17 triumph.

Joshua “unguardable” Hunter paced the Magic with an average of 14 points per game.

The Lakers cruised past the Hawks 21-16, 22-20 and 21-12 behind an average of 8.7 points from Hezi “YooVc” Coates.

In lower-bracket, fourth-round action on Friday, the Pistons swept Celtics Crossover Gaming 3-0, Knicks Gaming edged Grizz Gaming 3-2, Heat Check Gaming eliminated community team Rim Runners 3-1, and Gen.G downed 76ers GC 3-0.

In the lower-bracket fifth round, the Pistons nipped the Heat 3-2 and Gen.G eased past the Knicks 3-2. In the lower-bracket sixth round, the Pistons topped the Hawks 3-2, and the Tigers beat the Nets 3-2.

The Slam Open is the first of 3v3 tournaments in the NBA 2K League season, with the Switch Open (March 20-April 6) and the Steal Open (April 19-20) to follow. The playoffs are set for April 24-27 in Washington.
