NCAAB: No. 22 Utah State holds off Fresno State in overtime

Great Osobor had 21 points and 11 rebounds to lead No. 22 Utah State to a 77-73 victory in overtime over host Fresno State.

The Aggies (23-5, 11-4 Mountain West) remain tied for first in the conference after winning for the fourth time in the past five games.

The Bulldogs (11-17, 4-11) took their fourth consecutive loss.

Isaiah Hill, who led Fresno State with 21 points, fouled out with 4:25 left in overtime and the score tied at 67.

The Bulldogs’ Isaiah Pope, who finished with 15 points, tied the score at 73 with a jump shot with 51 seconds remaining.

Utah State’s Darius Brown II, whose 3-pointer at the end of regulation pushed the game into overtime, made another shot from beyond the arc with 34 seconds left in OT to put the Aggies ahead 76-73.

After a steal by Osobor, Brown was fouled with 12.5 seconds left.

Brown, who had 15 points, 11 rebounds and six assists, made one of two free-throw attempts to give Utah State a 77-73 lead.

Fresno State’s Xavier DuSell missed a 3-point attempt with two seconds left and the clock ran out.

The Aggies’ Mason Falslev, who had 15 points, made one of two free throws with 12.2 seconds left in regulation to cut the deficit to 63-62.

DuSell, who had 16 points, then made two free throws with 7.5 seconds remaining to give Fresno State a three-point lead. Brown banked in a 3-pointer with 1.8 seconds left to tie the score at 65.

Utah State had only three players score in the first half yet led 30-25 at halftime.

Osobor had 14 points and six rebounds, Josh Uduje scored 10 points and Ian Martinez had six at the half.

After the Aggies built a 47-39 lead with 13:49 remaining in regulation, the Bulldogs scored eight unanswered points.

DuSell and Hill each had a 3-pointer in the run, capped by a layup by Leo Colimerio (15 points and eight rebounds) with 12 minutes left that tied the score at 47.

The Bulldogs took their first lead of the game, 51-49, with 8:53 left on a layup by Jalen Weaver.
