Seattle Reign FC acquired defender Julia Lester in a three-team trade on Wednesday with Racing Louisville and NJ/NY Gotham FC.

Louisville dealt Lester to Gotham for $60,000 in allocation money. Gotham then sent Lester and $20,000 to the Reign in exchange for defender Sam Hiatt.

Lester, 26, joined Louisville in March 2022 and appeared in 43 matches (39 starts) in all competitions.

“For two seasons, Julia has been the consummate teammate and professional at Racing Louisville,” Racing general manager Ryan Dell said. “We wish her continued success in Seattle.”

Hiatt, 26, was drafted by the Reign in 2020 and made 44 starts in the regular season from 2021-23.

“Sam adds great competition to our backline, and we are very excited to have a player of her caliber join us,” said Gotham general manager Yael Averbuch West.
