The Chicago Red Stars have brought back defender Camryn Biegalski, signing the Illinois native to a one-year contract with a mutual option for the 2025 season.

Biegalski, a native of Lombard, Ill., was a restricted free agent after playing the past three seasons for the Washington Spirit. The Red Stars had originally selected her in the second round of the 2020 NWSL Draft out of Wisconsin, and she played in three matches (two starts) for Chicago in the 2020 NWSL Fall Series before joining Washington.

“I’m super excited to be back with the Red stars representing my home city,” Biegalski, 25, said in a news release Monday. “The organization is doing so many amazing things that I’m thrilled to be a part of, and I can’t wait to get to work.”

Biegalski made 54 appearances and 28 starts across all competitions for the Spirit from 2021-23. She played in nine games (two starts) and started all five Challenge Cup matches in 2023.

“The Red Stars are happy to welcome a Chicagoland native back home,” Red Stars president Karen Leetzow said in the news release. “Camryn’s experience with the Spirit — including being part of their 2021 championship team — will certainly make our roster deeper and help us be competitive this season.”

Also Monday, the Red Stars announced they have acquired defender Maximiliane Rall from FC Bayern Munchen. The 30-year-old German international signed a one-year contract with a mutual option for 2025. The Red Stars did not disclose the transfer fee to the Frauen-Bundesliga club.
