Carlos Alcaraz continued his dominant 2023 season, defeating Italian Lorenzo Musetti 6-2, 6-2 on Sunday to reach the quarterfinals of the China Open in Beijing.

In the process, the top-seeded Alcaraz became the first player to 60 tour-level wins this year. He moved to 16-1 at ATP 500 events, which included titles at Barcelona and the Queen’s Club in London.

The Spaniard cruised to victory by breaking Musetti’s serve four times and winning points on 70 percent of his first serves.

In the quarterfinals, Alcaraz will take on eighth-seeded Casper Ruud of Norway, who came back to defeat Argentina’s Tomas Martin Etcheverry 1-6, 7-5, 7-6 (7).

The third seed, Holger Dune of Denmark, was upset by Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov 6-3, 7-5. Next up for Dimitrov is Italy’s Jannik Sinner, the sixth seed, who eliminated Yoshihito Nishioka of Japan 6-2, 6-0.
