The host Saskatchewan Roughriders will try to defeat the Calgary Stampeders for the second time on the young season when the West Division rivals meet on Saturday.

Trevor Harris completed 20 of 30 passes for 273 yards with one touchdown in Saskatchewan’s 29-26 victory in Calgary on June 24. He followed that up by going 19-for-29 for 292 yards and a score in the Roughriders’ 12-11 win over the winless Edmonton Elks on July 6, earning CFL weekly honors for top quarterback play.

Harris also received another “honor” last week, much to his surprise. You see, Harris made his 100th career CFL start in the game against the Elks.

“Honestly the person that told me was Zach Collaros,” Harris said of his fellow CFL quarterback. “He texted me and was like, ‘Congrats on Start 100.’ And I did not know that. I’ve started 100 games up here and I’m thankful for each and every one that I get to start. God willing, I get to start 100 more.”

Harris, 37, will look to reach another milestone on Saturday. He resides 231 passing yards shy of 30,000 for his career.

Jamal Morrow rushed for 133 yards and Shea Patterson added a pair of touchdown runs in Saskatchewan’s previous win over Calgary.

While the Roughriders (3-1) boast a two-game winning streak, the Stampeders (1-3) dropped their second straight decision with a 24-11 setback to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers on July 7.

Jake Maier completed just 14 of 25 passes for 122 yards and a costly interception, much to the chagrin of Calgary general manager/coach Dave Dickenson.

“You can’t win with 122 yards passing,” Dickenson said. “And we’ve got to find ways to push the ball downfield. But that takes protection, as well, and winning one-on-one matchups. They’ve got a good defense — I’ll give them credit. But we have to be better, we have to be more explosive. You can’t win with that production.”

Maier completed 18 of 35 passes for 288 yards with one touchdown and three interceptions in the previous encounter with Saskatchewan.
