Five-star forward Ron Holland, the No. 2 player in the Class of 2023, signed with the NBA G League Ignite on Tuesday.

Holland said last month that he would skip college to play in the developmental G League.

“I want to thank everyone that has believed in me throughout the whole process, it hasn’t been easy,” Holland said in a news release. “I am super excited to join G League Ignite. I feel Ignite has the tools needed to prepare me for the life I want on and off the court.”

Holland, a 6-foot-8 power forward out of Duncanville High School in Duncanville, Texas, committed to the Texas Longhorns in November but decommitted in April.

Holland was a 2023 McDonald’s High School All-American and the Gatorade Texas Player of the Year, and he led Duncanville to a 29-1 record in the 2022-23 season. He averaged 20.3 points, 10.1 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 2.0 steals.

Holland will team with Matas Buzelis, the No. 5 player in the nation as ranked by the 247Sports composite, along with NBA Academy graduates Thierry Darlan and Babacar Sane, second-year Ignite player London Johnson and fellow Texan Dink Pate.

Three Ignite players have been selected in the top 10 of the NBA Draft over the past two years — Jalen Green (2021, No. 2, Houston Rockets), Jonathan Kuminga (2021, No. 7, Golden State Warriors) and Dyson Daniels (2022, No. 8, New Orleans Pelicans).
