Detroit Red Wings forward Robby Fabbri will require surgery and is out for the remainder of the season, coach Derek Lalonde announced Wednesday.

Fabbri is expected to require a four-to-six week recovery period from a lower-body injury that he sustained during Detroit’s 4-3 victory over the Chicago Blackhawks on March 8.

Fabbri, 27, totaled 16 points (seven goals, nine assists) in 28 games this season.

A Stanley Cup champion with St. Louis, Fabbri has 168 points (80 goals, 88 assists) in 330 career games with the Blues and Red Wings. He was selected by St. Louis with the 21st overall pick of the 2014 NHL Draft.
