NHL: Lightning C Steven Stamkos (knee) exits game vs. Blackhawks

Lightning center Steven Stamkos appeared to hurt his left knee and left the ice late in the first period of Tampa Bay’s game against the visiting Chicago Blackhawks on Saturday night.

In a scoreless game, Stamkos fell in the offensive zone and remained down with the puck near him. As he got to his feet, his left knee buckled, and the 33-year-old captain clutched the outside of the knee and grimaced.

He immediately went into the tunnel and headed to the dressing room with the help of the training staff.

Playing in his 66th game this season, the two-time Maurice Richard Trophy winner has 27 goals and 39 assists.
