Team Aster beat beastcoast 2-1 in a tiebreaker match to secure fourth place in Group B on the final day of the group stage at the $500,000 Dota Pro Circuit Lima Major on Sunday.

After Aster fell to Group B champion Team Liquid 2-0 and beastcoast was swept 2-0 by third-place Shopify Rebellion, a tiebreaker was necessary to determine which team would advance to the upper bracket of the playoffs and which would have to start in the lower bracket.

Aster won in 34 minutes on red, but beastcoast responded with a 24-minute victory on green. In the deciding round, Aster claimed victory in 31 minutes on red.

Also Sunday, HellRaisers beat Geek Slate 2-0 in a tiebreaker match to determine sixth place in Group B. HellRaisers, which won in 40 minutes on red and 39 minutes on green, earned the final playoff berth and Geek Slate was eliminated.

HellRaisers beat Knights 2-0 earlier in the day to force the tiebreaker match.

In Group A action, Gaimin Gladiators secured first place by sweeping fifth-place PSG.LGD 2-0. Team Spirit finished second with a 2-0 win over Execration. Evil Geniuses finished third after beating TSM 2-0, and Talon Esports landed the fourth ticket into the upper playoff bracket with a 2-0 win over EHOME.

The Lima Major is the first major of the Dota Pro Circuit 2023 season, and the first DPC major ever held in South America. The 18-team event consists of four teams each from Western Europe and China, three each from Southeast Asia and Eastern Europe and two each from North America and South America.

A pair of nine-team groups will conduct round-robin play through Sunday, with all matches best-of-two. The top four teams from each group advance to the upper bracket of the playoffs, and the fifth- and sixth-place teams in each group move on to the lower bracket.

The playoffs (double-elimination, best-of-three) begin Tuesday, with the Grand Final taking place March 5. The Grand Final will be the only best-of-five match of the tournament. The winner will take home $200,000 and 400 DPC points. Second is worth $100,000 and 350 points.
