San Francisco 49ers left tackle Trent Williams is mulling all options as he heads into the offseason — including retirement.

Williams made his comments on Tuesday, two days after he sustained a “minor” left foot injury in the 49ers’ 31-7 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC Championship Game.

“It’s a long season, having two long seasons back-to-back, it does get pretty grueling for a 34-year-old guy like myself,” Williams said, via NBC Sports Bay Area. “You do kind of think about what’s life like after football, because I’ve done this every year of my life since the second grade. You do get to that age, especially after ending the year like this and it being as exhausting as it was and still not getting quite where you want to be. I get it, you get to that age. Honestly, I’m just taking it one day at a time and we’ll see how it goes.”

A 10-time Pro Bowl selection and an All-Pro in 2021 and 2022, Williams also admitted the daily grind of an NFL season gives him pause during the offseason.

“I’d be lying (to) say it didn’t,” Williams said. “Yeah, it does. It isn’t hard to get up for NFC Championship (Game), or playoffs or anything like that. But, yeah, the day-to-day grind does get pretty redundant (after) doing it for a long time.

“But I’m blessed. I’m blessed to have played this game for as long as I have. … But to answer your question, yeah, it does get a little like a rerun almost.”

Williams started 162 of the 163 career games in which he played with the Washington franchise and the 49ers. He was selected by Washington with the fourth overall pick of the 2010 NFL Draft.
