The Washington Spirit have re-signed forward Tara McKeown to a new three-year contract.

The deal announced Thursday replaces her current contract and includes a team option for 2026.

McKeown, 23, is entering her third season with the Spirit after being drafted eighth overall in 2021.

“Tara is a talented player who has impressed the coaching staff with her commitment to wanting to improve and be a leader in this group,” Spirit coach Mark Parsons said in the news release. “I am looking forward to working with her and know she has the ability to keep improving in 2023.”

McKeown missed time with a foot injury last season and had three goals and one assist in 12 games.
