NBA: Knicks C Mitchell Robinson out with broken thumb

New York Knicks center Mitchell Robinson had surgery Thursday to repair a fractured right thumb.

He will be re-evaluated in three weeks following the procedure at New York’s Hospital for Special Surgery.

Robinson was injured in the first quarter of Wednesday night’s 116-105 loss to the Washington Wizards.

He is averaging 7.2 points and 8.9 rebounds in 38 games (37 starts) this season, his fifth with the Knicks.

Robinson, 24, owns career averages of 8.3 points, 7.7 rebounds and 2.0 blocks in 268 games (154 starts).
