Formula One on Tuesday confirmed a 23-race season – instead of a planned 24 – for 2023 after the decision was made against replacing the Chinese Grand Prix race.

F1 canceled the April 16 race in China last month due to “the ongoing difficulties presented by the Covid-19 situation.”

F1 looked into alternate race sites to replace the Chinese Grand Prix but ultimately decided to go with 23.

“Formula One can confirm the 2023 season will consist of 23 races,” F1 said Tuesday. “All existing race dates on the calendar remain unchanged.”

The Australian Grand Prix on April 2 will be followed by the Azerbaijan Grand Prix on April 30.
