D.C. United announced the signing Thursday of Polish midfielder Mateusz Klich from the Premier League’s Leeds United.

He signed a two-year contract through 2024 with an option for 2025 and will occupy a designated player spot on the United roster.

Klich, 32, recorded 24 goals and 21 assists across 194 appearances for Leeds United from 2017-23.

“Mateusz is a first-rate midfielder who will add top-level experience to our roster,” D.C. United head coach Wayne Rooney said. “I’ve been watching him since he helped lead Leeds to promotion to the Premier League and his vision, range of passing, and scoring ability will be a huge asset for us this season.”

Klich began his pro career in Poland with Cracovia in 2008. He has also played for Germany’s VfL Wolfsburg II and FC Kaiserslautern and for the Dutch clubs PEC Zwolle and FC Twente.

Internationally, Klich has earned 41 caps for the Polish senior national team and has registered two goals and four assists.
