Devan Cambridge scored 16 points and Arizona State opened the game with 12 straight points and never looked back in an 80-49 win over Grambling State on Tuesday in Tempe, Ariz.

Cambridge made 7 of 8 shots from the field, contributing to Arizona State’s 49 percent shooting performance in the Pac-12-Southwestern Athletic Conference Legacy Series game.

DJ Horne added 15 points and Warren Washington and Frankie Collins each had 11 points for the Sun Devils (5-1). Washington made all four of his field-goal attempts and had a team-high seven rebounds.

Grambling State (2-2) did not have a player score in double figures. Cameron Christon had nine points on 2-of-12 shooting to lead the Tigers.

The Sun Devils have won their last three games, including a victory over then-No. 20 Michigan in last week’s Legends Classic championship game.

Grambling State lost two games in the state of Arizona — also losing at Grand Canyon on Friday — following its upset at home over Colorado last week in the Pac-12/SWAC Legacy Series.

After Arizona State began with a 12-0 lead through the opening 4:12, Grambling State answered with eight consecutive points.

That was as close as the Tigers got, as the Sun Devils went on a 12-3 run to open a 24-11 lead with 6:42 remaining until halftime.

Arizona State held Grambling State scoreless in the last 2:55 of the half to take a 34-17 lead into the break. The Sun Devils produced 10 assists for their 11 field goals made in the half.

They finished with 21 assists, led by seven from Collins, while making 25 of 51 shots.

Grambling State trailed 47-29 with 11:27 remaining following two free throws by Christon.

Arizona State followed with an 18-1 run to put the game away. Grambling State shot 26.6 percent from the field in the game.

The Tigers made 1 of 13 shots from 3-point range and committed 18 turnovers.
