Search For Missing Teen Kiely Rodni Continues, Police Find No New Leads

Placer County Sheriff

Several days have passed since Truckee teenager Kiely Rodni vanished. She was last seen at a party at around 2:30 a.m. on Saturday in a place called “The Sanctuary” by locals that is close to the Prosser Family Campground. There may have been 200 to 300 teenagers and young adults present, according to witnesses and law enforcement, reports say.

The Placer County Sheriff’s Office opened an investigation after Kiely did not show up for a hike with friends. Friends of the missing California teen revealed that the end-of-school party was rife with illegal activity. Her 2013 silver Honda CRV has not been located, and her phone has been inoperable since the party. The police released a surveillance photo of her taken a few hours prior to the missing teen’s disappearance at a nearby campground.

In the photo, Rodni is seen at 6:08 p.m. on a Friday working at a location in Truckee, California, which is ten minutes south of the Prosser Family Campground where she was last seen at 12:30 a.m. Rodni is described as a 5’7″ tall white, with blonde hair and hazel eyes, weighing 115 pounds. She has many piercings, including one on her nose. Rodni was last seen sporting a black tank top and green Dickies pants.

More than 100 police officers were searching the area, and police boats and divers were searching the nearby 73-foot-deep Prosser Creek Reservoir. The adolescent texted her mother Lindsey, 42, to let her know she was leaving in 45 minutes, or around 11.30 p.m. Before a camping trip, she was supposed to meet friends at a nearby Starbucks at 9 am, but she never showed up, causing her mother to call the police.

Authorities have used helicopters to conduct aerial searches for the missing teen in addition to boats and dive teams scouring the reservoir. On Tuesday, a police boat and helicopter searched the reservoir, a 760-acre lake located directly below the campground where Kiely was last seen. The Placer County Sheriff’s Office said the investigation has been upgraded to a potential kidnapping because police have not yet located the teenager’s 2013 silver Honda CRV car, but an Amber Alert has not been issued as the kidnapping is yet to be verified.

The teen’s mother believes that her daughter has been abducted and urged anyone with information to come forward. Her boyfriend revealed the last conversation they had was before she vanished without a trace at a campground party. Teenagers with any information are being urged to come forward by Kiely’s friends and family.
